USB Flash Drives
Description
What Is A USB Flash Drive?
A USB flash drive is a storage device which currently holds between 64Mb and 64GB of data. The type of memory used is NAND flash memory and connects to the computer via the USB port. They are rewriteable, reliable and compact.
The flash drive contains a small printed circuit board inside a plastic, metal or rubber case. The USB connector is protected by a removable cap and the drive has no movable parts.
Modern flash drives have USB 2.0 connectivity but do not make full use of the 60Mb/s USB 2.0 specification due to limitations in NAND flash memory. This situation may change in the near future though as teh technology improves and USB 3.0 becomes mainstream.
