Seagate Announce Momentus XT Hybrid Drive

Momentus® XT Solid State Hybrid Drives have been launched. 26th May 2010

For the last few years we have been hearing about hybrid drives, the combination of SSD, DDR and hard disk drive technology to speed up transfer times was much touted but those early versions did not achieve the performance boost, and although there was a potential energy saving the take up was limited by higher cost per GB.

Other issues with Microsoft Windows Vistas "Ready Drive" not taking advantage of the performance  and energy saving features has not helped.

But now with Windows 7 seeing a resurgence for Microsoft we see Seagate providing OEM versions of the worlds fastest 2.5 inch SSD  / Hybrid hard drive.
