Ripoff Britain - What Is Your Money Spent On

Ripoff Britain - What Is Your Money Spent On
Description
Ripoffs and Scams are not always easy to spot but why is this ?

When looking to compare prices for any services or goods on the internet you need to be aware of the "Internet Marketeers" , "Marketing Gurus" and "e-Warfare experts".

These self proclaimed experts at everything from Quickie Divorces, Industrial Tribunals, Lush Dates, Computer forensics and data recovery often use your personal information to market other useful services like online will writing or online curriculum vitae.

But what kind of service are you paying for ? -

Q - How can a global corporation with offices in every country provide a service for a fraction of the true cost?.
A - They can only do this if they can find a way to extract money from you for nothing - beware they will look good by using your money.

Q - How do they make money ?
A - They will claim to offer a premium service at a highly discounted price, but in reality you will be "walked" into a situation to pay up to 10 times the cost for even the most basic service (example -software data recovery DIY =£79 , or Pay a professional to do it for you for around £100 but you will be charged a minimimum of £240 and if you actually get data it will cost anything between £500 and £1600

Lots of websites were put up by one such "papermill scam operation" advertising that they had vetted the top 5 data recovery companies in the UK

But the reality is differrent, the only sites with testimonials which were fake  and backlinks to their websites were all linked to Dr Daryl Hamilton Wallis the registrant of UKDS.net.

UKDS.net is the website of UK Digital Solutions Ltd part of the "Fields Group" which is known for its data recovery papermill scams

The problem of charging foR a full data recovery service just running software is not confined to the UK and USA

These get rich quick online marketing experts will make claims they are the most respected, trusted or No1 in their market sectors yet they attract more complaints than all their competitors combined despite their Quality Assurance ISO 9001 accreditation.

Above all these operations will claim to be the cheapest but how many would realise that the small amount of money they paid was actually for nothing more than shuffling "virtual paper". If you are charged for a "forensic scan" and get nothing more than paper ask why ?

I sent 2 drives, one for repair , one as spares. they charged me £256 inc vat for parts ordered, and the invoice stated 'an identical drive was sourced'...I had supplied them with 'an identical drive' I then received my drives back from 'Fields data Recovery' their other trading name. a widely reported scam company. They appear to not have even looked at my drives.

I was advised on first contact with this company that my hard disk had a relatively minor fault in that the firmware was corrupt and that probably it would cost me the advertised cost of £97 to repair.

I sent the disk the same day for repair. I received an email on the 17th August stating that they had done some work but it was unsuccesful and that the whole disk would have to be forensically scanned and that only their sister company Fields  Data Recovery had the facilities to do this. It would cost me £195 + vat if I wished to proceed. And that the process would take 2-4 days.

I paid this via credit card. I have since then not received the disk back. Attempts at communication have been unsucessful, email, phone or website.

I  have since scanned the internet (wish I had done this first) and found that many people have suffered the same fate.

This company is most likely scamming the public. They probably do not do anything at all. They also do not return disks, which is even more frustrating than the money scam.

All email correspondence and web evidence is available in the Files section.

It is much more important that I get my disk back. And wonder if this is a criminal act to retain disks (theft).
