NFIB Commence Online Fraud And Scams Investigations

The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) is a government-funded initiative run by the City of London Police.

Following on from other reports on internet fraud and data recovery scams *,  investigations  into online fraud is now being addressed by the new Governments stated commitment to helping consumers have confidence when dealing with British Online Companies.

The recent articles into PPC fraud and Adwords domination by rogue operations is to be followed by other news and TV articles similar to those conducted in Germany (Fields Data Recovery  /  Rapid Data Recovery) and the US (Data Recovery Corp).

However consumers should still be on their guard, many of these Online Rogues  have been able to secure substantial profits and even setup businesses to give an air of professionalism.

At the end of the day if a company claims to be a global leader or offer an incredibly low price for goods or services it is best to do some checking before placing an order or parting with your creditcard details.

There are many instances of credit card details and customer lists being sold on the net and consumers and businesses accounts being periodically plundered without their knowledge.

Other operations run by the same "internet gurus" in charge of many papermill scams include Tribunal Action / Action Direct, UK Digital Solutions, Quickie and Manged Divorce, Suger Daddy, Lush Dates, Rapid Track Data and many more.

If you get calls from a marketing company offerring goods or  services and you have not asked them to call , make a note of their number, or ask for their details and report them with the TPS**.

Never be pressured into making a decision without checking for independant testimonials and feedback.

David Gray, from Meopham in Kent, paid more than £1,000 for Wimbledon tickets in June but never received them.

"What I was surprised at was the actual make-up of the actual website, which was very professional and very tempting indeed," he said.

Tammy Foster, from Birmingham, spent £185 on two Pink concert tickets that never arrived.

Describing her emotions when she found out she had been ripped off, she said: "I wanted to kill someone. I was absolutely disgusted.

"It was made worse because my partner had bought the tickets for my birthday."

She added: "One time when I did phone up, they were verbally abusive to me, telling me to basically go to Trading Standards, and that nothing was going to get done about it and not to phone their office again."

Anyone used Tribunal Action UK?
by roger swift » Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:39 am

I have read the comments here about Tribunal on line and I am also concerned that I have been misled by them. I kept getting e-mails saying it was being dealt with. I have paid £1,700
and not much seems to have happened since. There were a lot of mistakes in the ET1 and trying to get them to correct this is a nightmare. It appears in my experience that they leave you to your own devices after they have persuaded you that you have a case and paid money up front. I agree with what someone has said on this forum. They get you when you at a time when you are at your lowest ebb and vulnerable.
I have paid money to them in advance for virtually nothing.
Please be careful and see a solicitor face to face or contact the CAB.

I was very fortunate when I used this company that I had insurance. My insurance company were not quite as fortunate of course and the cost to them will exceed £10000.00 when all is done.

When I finally recovered my hard disks after several months, it was clear that not only had Fields been lying through their teeth to me, but the hard disks essential to the running of my business had become wet seemingly through having been left outside in the rain and snow.

It is an utter disgrace that this company has not been closed down and the directors (and employees) incarcerated - one day soon hopefully!!!
