Fields solicitor stated in court to the Judge that Fields have :- " a good working relationship with Bridgend Trading Standards going back 5 years"    what an extra-ordinary claim to make !

For those of you have been on the receiving end of the Fields Data Recovery scam it may come as no surprise that Fields still cannot recover drives that their expensive forensic reports or leading data recovery experts say are beyond recovery yet other labs recover.

A Nationwide data recovery service needs to be able to complete  thousands of recoveries a year in order to afford the equipment, facilities, and resources needed to gain access to data storage device that have become inaccessible.

There are actually only a few high capacity labs in each country which have the capacity  to complete up to  10,000 recoveries a year, and most of the online data recovery services are actually running software hoping for the best or referring the work on to their partners for a commission or as a VAR (value added reseller) .

There are some "labs" which claim £97 recoveries.

Others claim £79 recoveries.

Reality is any price below £200 is for basic formatting, logical or pcb faults not a full rebuild.

Some DR Labs claim to be National and World leaders, we are not talking about the established global players here, their track record and abilities are well documented. We are talking about marketing companies which deliberately try to mislead consumers using fake reviews and testimonials.

One national and international operation known to be involved in scams and misleading consumers with fake reviews and fake claims of being industry leaders is Fields Data Recovery. 

What you will see is impressive claims of clients they have worked for, pictures of their emminent staff and claims of being the leaders with impressive international offices but in reality their vast profits are made from providing sub standard services and employing their own solicitor to threaten financial ruin and court cases against anyone who complains, clients or competitors.

But will they ever admit to making mistakes ?  Will they ever admit to charging the same consumer more than once for no data using differrent brands?

PPC Domination is one thing but charging for three failed rebuilds and not telling the client it will be going to the same lab is in my book unconcionable.

As is charging for a failed recovery and detailing in a 10 page report that no data recovery will be able to help, well often that was true if they had deliberately dameged the drive to stop their genuine competitors making a living.

But they don't care --- after all there are plenty more fish in the sea and dominating adwords / bing PPC sponsored advertising is easy if you make more profit than your competitors can.

Any company can make a mistake, no one is infallible, but to make so many mistakes in so many markets, under so many brands, for so many differrent businesses ? ( see www.data-recovery-blog.com ) for so many years ?? is unprecedented.


If they are the leaders why are they involved in so many scams ? And why do they claim so many regional and international data recovery labs when they actually all go to their offices in Wales ? How can you tell if the lab you are dealing with is genuine ?

Well firstly do some background checking, if your data is important to you get advice from people who have experienced the need for data recovery,  also check online for those affected by the rogues of the data recovery industry or  find someone in your area who can reccommend a trusted data recovery lab and can vouch for their services. 

There are several labs in the UK, ABC Data Recovery Ltd  set its sights on achieving the scale of operations needed to offer true national data recovery service and has helped expose the rogues and stop them deliberately damaging drives. Many consumers have secured refunds or county court judgements after realising they had paid out good money for nothing more than a papermills fake report.

Data recovery services at prices starting from around £100+vat can result in the drive being further damaged beyond recovery if it is not first cloned.

If you want to pay £79 buy your own software and run it yourself and take the same risk the cowboys do, if not call a professional data recovery and get a fair quote and best advice.

All the others will be at best able to recover between 15-30% , however the ones that should be recoverable by an expert are often rendered damaged and beyond recovery by software recoveries or incorrect parts replacement rendering the drive beyond recovery.

Exposing the scams was difficult but necessary, and has helped many others get their drive back in the condition it was sent in and we are now recovering these drives at normal success rates.

If a lab cannot source the  parts it should give the drive back in a condition that another lab who might have the parts needed can complete the recovery.

Reality is most data recovery labs stock thousands of spares but actually sourcing parts that are in short supply is problematic.
 
Despite well structured reports and photographs the data recovery scammers are clearly little more than papermills producing sophisticated online reports or photocopies of reports, these are little more the a smoke screen to justify the fees charged and give the impression that the necessary effort, skills and resources  have been utilised to rebuild the drive.

Be sure to carefully check the data recover service you trust yuor data with is trustworthy and please remember if its too cheap - make sure you know what you are paying for, often it will be for nothing.

I do not care that this can seem unprofessional, I believe this to be one of the most cost effective ways of exposing how consumers are duped and educating them to check out the online company they are dealing with very carefully.

Disclaimer : -  For those of you reading this wondering why I am so blatently exposing these scams again in 2010 :-  I was accused of posting on the Data Recovery Blog under various aliases, unfortunately Fields data recovery were wrong, I always put my name to my claims and will remove any text I write which can be shown to be factually inaccurate or lack sufficient proof to meet the scrutiny of a court of law.

I am being taken to court by Fields and will expose their attempts to not only discredit their competitors, but show them that a smaller company they believed they could crush was actually more than a match for them even before we went online with a website.

If only Dr Daryl Hamilton Wallis as head of his group of companies had not been so greedy and operated in such a way as to mislead so many consumers, no one may ever have noticed what they were up to..
