Since this article was first written various member companies of the  Fields Goup Ltd have been settling out of court with many who have realised they were defrauded. The Fields Group have also been posting fake data recovery reviews and rolled out some 30 fake review websites in an attempt to look like they are a well respected ISO 9001 company.
Their well trained sales representatives are schooled in the art of selling any form  / spooled document or report for a big profit, and in doing so have damaged the lives of hundreds of consumers and businesses.

Their Director has bullied and attacked their victims to the point of harrassment, even using substantial sums of money taking out a High Court Injunction on the pretence they are protecting their business but all is not what it seems.

Lets hope the Judge re-instates the data-recovery-blog.com forum for the victims of Fields Data Recovery. The story of Rowland Ferraro himself a victim of Rapid Data who was threatened and intimidated Fields,  his story will no doubt make headline news.

My business and company was also affected by Fields and they wondered why I was willing to help the victims, instead of meeting for mediation they tried to bully me through the courts and I was severley injured when their process server called at my house.

Fields legal challenges have finally back fired,  I too was awarded an extra-ordinary damages payout from Fields Associates who had attempted to use their "in house legal team" to bring a vexatious claim against me. read "
have you been mulcted"

Fields solicitor stated in court to the Judge that Fields have :- " a good working relationship with Bridgend Trading Standards going back 5 years"    what an extra-ordinary claim to make !

For those of you have been on the receiving end of the Fields Data Recovery scam it may come as no surprise that Fields still cannot recover drives that their expensive forensic reports or leading data recovery experts say are beyond recovery yet other labs recover.

Most will never know how they were defrauded...

What is a papermill scam ?

Basically it is the ability to print money for doing little or nothing by promoting and marketing services that produce little more than a paper form filling service, or fake reports explaining why charges were made for a service could not be provided.

Often the cost of the form is much more than the true cost of the actual service from a reputable company.

Often it is a method of maximising revenues to offset the marketing costs of Pay Per Click costs.

Many consumers are "walked" from the very low cost service to the highest amount they can afford before they realise they have been misled, many more will never realise they have paid over the odds for a worthless piece of paper.

These corporations then use these illgotten profits for "sector domination through unrelenting growth" and to undermine genuine suppliers of services.

They also claim to be the leading Injunction serving, will writing and payment protection insurance claim processing company and dominate google PPC sponsored advertising by out bidding their genuine competitors.

Here we see three "brands" operated by Fields Associates Ltd who were mulcted in costs for attempting to bully a competitor who stood up to their vexatious legal claims.

Similar methods are used to dominate Online Divorce, Seperation Agreements, Industrial Tribunals, PreNuptual Agreements and Payment Protection Insurance as well as Will and CV writing services.
Make sure you find a reputable company and not a corporation with sales people and support staff motivated by slogans like:-

"we control the market"

"we control the competition"

"we control the consumer"

"we control the price"

How does it work ?

Papermill processing (document spooling) is a system run by a company geared to achieve any kind of sale for any service so long as at the very least it can sell a report for often more than the true cost of the service they are advertising for.

Surely this is illegal ?

Not necessarily it needs a court to rule on the illegality, many consumers don't even realise they have been the victims of such scams and afterall they have paid for reports believing the lies they have been told, the chances of securing a full refund is very low if you don't know how you were defrauded.

How would I spot a company which operates such scams?.

Always check the company advertising the services they claim is genuine, the problem is they often employ the most persuasive salesteams and marketing techniques to assure clients they are the best /
cheapest / quickest / most qualified or most respected experts in their Fields .

Often they will fake their own reviews and even launch dozens of review and testimonial websites.

***** The scams are not confined to the UK market, they are operated in several countries and running software but charging for other services is a common data recovery scam.

Why do they do this ?

Money.... and lots of it, especially if no one notices what they are up to and they secure substantial loans and finance on the back of their illgotten gains .

They use their own staff to threaten and bully clients who complain, some papemills even employ their own full time solicitor and often threaten competitors and bully their victims often threatening them with bankcruptcy through the courts system.

The cost of their in house solicitor is a fraction of the cost of a commercial solicitor and so the cost of fighting such an operation through the courts is a significant undertaking but can be done and
Fields were mulcted by the courts after attempting to sue a competitor who exposed their Fields / Rapid Data's fake reports for what they are --- mis leading .. mis representation.

Who regulates these operations?

A - In reality No One

They can often be listed as regulated by many organisations and be accredited by many others but it does not mean they work to any acceptable business standard or quality assurance .

Financial Services Authority
Ministry of Justice
Investors in People
The Advertising Standard Authority

Which business sectors are affected by these scams.

Potentially any business - common papermill scams involve websites offerring the following services

Data Recovery
Computer Forensics
Online Divorce
Payment Protection Insurance
Lush Dates
Tribunal Action
Will Writing
Seperation Agreements
Pre Nuptual Agreements
Action Direct
Just Compare
Online CV writing

Have any companies been exposed for such practices ?

Yes and because of this they will attack genuine companies and attempt to put them out of business and even threaten to destroy the lives of their victims if they speak out.

A number of victims of one well known papermill based in Bridgend Wales have secured refunds thanks to the site Data-RECOVERY-BLOG.COM but the scams have not stopped and the forum is currently offline pending a review by the high court..

Other forums in other market sectors are now reporting their experiences of the one of the most successful scam merchents who have deliberately tried to damage the reputations of any company that exposes them.

Afterall these conmen by their own admission are

experts in ewarfare - dominate their sectors through unrelenting growth - control the market, control the consumer by psychological and behavioural methods- gain credence by declairing their ISO9001 accreditation.

I am sure the courts will eventually be shown how these businesses operate and make a judgment that every single one of their clients accounts be investigated for sharp practice, that is one cost even a papermill will not want to pay for !

How can I be sure I was a victim of such a scam ? could it be that these are just mistakes ?

No company can claim to be infallible, a company is afterall a company of people. But it is lead by the Directors and Chairman of the board and it is they who have established the mechanism to mislead and defraud on an industrial scale.

Look carefully into any company you are thinking of using online, carefully check that the reviews are from genuine companies or people.

What is the DR Industry doing to limit the effect on consumers ?

I for one will fight for good practices in Data Recovery and will campaign for changes in the law, I am sure other genuine Data Recovery Companies and the Committee and Fellows of IPDRA will now see my online rants as understandable considering how my company was targetted.

I hope others will join me in exposing the rogues and their methods after realising their companies are also in the firing line from the scam merchants.

I will defend my words through the courts and continue exposing such papermills who have attempted to take over the UK DR market by defrauding consumers.

If you believe you have been a victim of scams rather than a genuine mistake or poor service email
