After the comparedatarecovery fiasco of 2009 the Directors of the company behind the attempt to mislead consumers have been exposed for damaging hard drives, selling fake data recovery reports and skimming credit cards.
It was shown that the company behind this was Fields Associates Ltd (aka Rapid Data , Rapid Data Recovery, Dataphoenix) a member of the Fields Group using its web divisions Smart B2B and UK Digital Solutions (UKDS.NET)
Compare Data Recovery was another attempt by Fields to dominate the UK DR market, but it was seems they could only sustain this by using government grants to defraud consumers. .
Fields also put up numerous fake review sites like www.data-recovery-companies.co.uk and this resulted in the creation of The DRC Directory of Data Recovery Companies to counteract Fields attempts to dominate the search engines.
Fields Group had deliberately intended to damage the reputation of genuine data recovery labs and yet Fields Data Recovery Ltd and Rapid Data Recovery Ltd have been exposed for various scams in data recovery.
Rapid Datas record of fake reports and charging for work not done has been long established and the victims come forward on almost a daily basis.

Many not realising they have been mislead into paying for a "forensic recovery" at often ten times the cost of a software recovery only realise they have been defrauded once they get either a fake report explaining why their data is not recoverable because the drive was not repaired correctly, or they get apartial recovery because the drive was severely degraded.

Fields attempts to dominate their competitors by bidding up the cost of PPC advertsing is well documented.
They also do this in their other Papermill operations like Quickie Divorce and Tribunal Action

Fields Data Recovery claim to have been perfoming data recovery since 1993, yet the company was only incorporated in 2008 with the other dissolved company Rapid Data

What they have been trading as since 2000 is as a web design consultancy, but with a differrence, they steal their clients ideas. One such idea was Quickie Divorce reality is Fields claim to be experts in everything from Pseudo pimping of young women offerring them money in their hour of need to data recovery and payment protection insurance claims, will writing and industrial tribunals processing.
But beware this Papermill has attracted substantial critism and for the past year investigations into their operations have been undertaken by many competitors who were maligned by Compare IT.
Compare IT Ltd (Director David Woolls) and Just Compare Ltd (Directors Daryl Hamilton Wallis and Richard John Lewis Cable ) had attempted to destroy the marketing of their competitors using PPC click domination not only by using their "brands"

And then comparedatarecovery. Which attempted in conjunction with Fields brands to dominate PPC with instances where their seperate brands charged for successive unsuccessful rebuilds without warning consumers it was the same company they were actually dealing with, this double dipping shows how unscrupulous these marketeers are who's slogan is " Unrelenting growth through sector domination"
I am currently defending a claim made against me by Fields Associates Ltd, without prejudicing the outcome suffice to say the particulars of claim are at best unfounded and worse show how little regard Fields Data Recovery directors have for their competitors or the consumers they victimise. Moreover it would not have been necessary if they had not shown a blatent disregard for my warnings that they had a problem.
Instead the Director Dr Daryl Hamilton Wallis said he would have me arrested, would send bailiffs and THAT i WOULD BE IN COURT THE VERY NEXT DAY and that he had the "chief of police in his office and they were investigating " when I asked to talk to this CHIEF OF POLICE Wallis said "he has just left the room" . and I would be in court the next day, but some of his other statements in that call rang alarm bells and made me realise there was much more to this than competitive rivalry.
Other statements he made made me realise I was dealing with a consumite manipulator, well that was over a year ago, it is only since a victims blog and forum was launched in early 2010 that Fields wrongly assumed I was posting on it, they then threaten to sue me for £250,000 plus £25,000 per day that the blog stayed online.. *
What has to be remembered is that Fields started this by making claims about their competitors that were unfounded and designed to attract business away from them. They then proceed to make a mess of the drives and consumers and business are affected.
They then attract a substantial back lash and much online discussion from many in the UK DR industry after Fields attempt using the Compare IT website www.comparedatarecovery.co.uk to malign their competitors, Compare IT wrongley claimed ABC Data Recovery charged 3 times more on average than we actually do, and that we were the worst data recovery company in the UK - yet we were recovering some of the drives Fields were returning as unrecoverable. ABC Data Recovery Ltd are one of the few Data Recovery Labs that can show we have a lab and clean room plus our annual clean room test certificate and thousands of satified clients, so I took the necessary steps to expose their actions.
My company offers a free collection and no data no fee data recovery service, but we had to suspend this for any drives sent first to Fields Data Recovery Ltd, Rapid Data Recovery Ltd and DataPhoenix.
What became clear is that many of the clients had approached my company for quotes but decided that the corporate image and slick sales patter combined with a cheap data recovery price was a better deal.
Upon finding they have been misled they then ask for help from abc , but we generally refuse to allow any drives previously sent to those labs identified as not having the resources they claim, we now charge for a report or advance inspection fee of £95+vat to cover the costs. However there are companies which are charging £265 for this service and again it brings home that consumers need to check the data recovery company they are dealing with is more than just a slick marketing machine.
